Woodies Racing Claims Another Gold in NY // RDS 7&8 // 2022 Season
(Milaca, MN February 21st, 2022) - Flash floods, epic fans and gold were what Round 4 of the 2022 Amsoil Snocross National Series in Salamanca, NY held for team Woodies Racing. Setup Thursday had us nervous with 50+ degree temps and over 2 inches of rainfall but overnight the conditions turned around completely for perfect race weather, light snowfall and temps in the teens. This year the NY team decided to spice up the track for us by adding a “dog leg” (to the traditionally oval track) that went up and down the hillside making the track even more accessible to the spectators! Who in typical Western New York fashion absolutely packed into the stands, the race pits and filled the hillside to watch our riders battle it out!
Taven Woodie #873 - Pro Women
Taven absolutely put in the work this weekend trying to take every available championship point off the table. Friday she ripped out of the gate winning her first round and then going third in her second round. This sent her into the Friday night final with confidence for an epic battle between Taven, Malene Cottew, Makenna Kleiman to see who would sit on the podium. During the race Taven was landed on with another rider's ski directly landing on her Arctic Cat’s right side running board folding it in the middle but Taven could not be stopped and rode all the way into 2nd place for the night. Saturday was the day for her to shine, after our mechanics led by Kaden Woodie were able to fix her running board she took second in both of her rounds. Being so close to winning Friday night put this fire into Taven and in Saturday’s final we saw her ride like she was on a mission, not only to win but to show us all what she is capable of by absolutely running away with the race. Let us tell you, the fans LOVED it, chanting her name at the podium and going wild seeing her on the top step of the podium! Even team owner Paul Woodie was giving out high fives to fans!
Dylan Roes #112 - Pro Lite
We got to see Dylan not only continue to improve but again show off what he is capable of when he is able to avoid getting tangled up with other riders. On Friday he took a 6th in round 1 but he really shined in round 2 when he was able to pull an amazing start and get out in front for almost the entire round to claim a second. He was able to go into the final to take home a 12th. Saturday we saw him hard charge out of the gate in round 1 but unexpectedly pull off the track after injuring his back. Throughout the day we saw him work with the team’s chiropractor and get checked out by medical to try and get him back on track but after racing his second round he decided the best thing to do would be to pull out for the rest of the night to avoid further injury, we are only halfway through the season and there is still plenty of racing this year!
Trent Wittwer #115 - Pro
This season’s Pro field has been absolutely stacked between the amazing riders we have here in North America and the number of riders we have seen come across from Europe. It has made for some wild racing and our Pro Trent has been in there battling it out with the fastest guys in the world. Friday he was able to take two 6th place finishes in his heats and 13th in the Final. Saturday he picked up two 8th place finishes in his heats and another 13th in the Final. This is only the mid season and we are confident that Trent is going to get back on the pace that we know he can ride at and we saw him putting down in pre season practice!
