Gold and Blood in Canterbury - Snocross Rounds 3 & 4

Milaca, MN (January 16, 2023) - Gold and blood in Canterbury. For rounds 3 and 4 of the 2023 Snocross National Tour, we returned to one of our rider’s favorite events, racing in Shakopee, MN at Canterbury Park. Since Fargo, our riders have been putting in the hours not only at the track but in the gym and this weekend it showed. We saw all 3 of our riders making huge improvements including multiple wins and Taven snatching up valuable points for the Series overall.

Taven Woodie #873 - Pro Women

Through racing in Fargo Taven was struggling with some respiratory issues, which combined with the subzero temperatures made it extremely difficult for her to breathe but this past weekend she came back swinging Winning 3 of the 4 heat rounds over the two days of racing. Day 1 saw Taven win round 1, going 2nd in round 2, and then a thrilling final seeing her work her way up from 3rd to 1st battling hard with Malene Cottew and Inanna Hauger for that top step. Along with having the time to heal up she also was able to work with the team at FOX to dial in her Arctic Cat’s suspension making for a faster, smoother ride. On day 2 she was able to lock down back-to-back wins in rounds 1 & 2 followed by 2nd in the final. Going into Deadwood she will be working at the practice track with our Tuner Ryan Duncan to dial in her clutching to ensure she claims those Holeshots.

Oskar Englund #339 - Pro Lite

Maybe the most improvement we saw over the weekend was from our Pro Lite Swede, Oskar Englund. Oskar clearly put in the time between Fargo and Shakopee showing tremendous improvements on the track, on Friday he was able to lock down a win in round 1 followed by 6th in round two. In the final he was looking fast until he cased the finish line jump smashing his face into the bars, knocking the wind out of himself, and damaging the sled making it unrideable for the rest of the evening. He patched up his busted lip and came back on Saturday with a fire under him, he was able to win round 1 and take 2nd in round two. The final kicked off with Oskar in contention for a podium finish which he fought hard to keep but ultimately was in a collision with another racer which lead to one of the hood panels becoming disconnected and Oskar having to stop to repair it.

“Oskar is just as fast as anyone out there and I think will be a contender for the podium. He is as smooth as Johan Lidman but as assertive as Mike Goerge” - Team Owner, Paul Woodie.

Nemo Fahlander #169 - Sport

“Racing here in USA is much more difficult than riding at home, at home we have very long races where endurance is important. Also, the riders at home have much more space between them and any kind of bumping is not allowed” - Nemo expands on what the differences in racing are from here in the US to his home in Sweden. He said it is a lot to learn but he is learning quickly and was able to take 2 top 3s in his rounds, Unfortunately however he was hit by a sled in Friday night's final causing him to get checked out by FXR Mobile Medical. While he passed the checkout and was not seriously injured he was limping throughout Saturday and was unable to make the just final. Luckily he has a little bit of time to heal up before the team heads to Deadwood.
