Lap Traffic in Deadwood - Snocross Rounds 5 & 6

Milaca, MN (January 30th, 2023) - The Woodies Racing Family once again returns to Historic Deadwood, SD for a thrilling weekend of racing at the Days of 76’ Rodeo. Deadwood has always been a challenging stop on the Snocross circuit with its infamous small oval track built to fit on the Rodeo grounds, this means that the race is won and lost in the holeshot, making passes takes a veteran rider and lap traffic is something to fear if you are gunning for the podium. Our team has a long history with Taven winning her first Pro Women’s race there and Kaden being involved in a life-changing crash that FXR Mobile Medical still regards as one of their top 5 scariest moments on the track.

Taven Woodie #873 - Pro Women

For Taven Deadwood isn’t just another stop on the tour but a race to concur, not only for her but also in honor of her brother Kaden who no longers races Snocross. On Friday she took back-to-back 2nd-place finishes in her rounds followed by an exciting final seeing her fight her way through the pack into 2nd despite the race being red-flagged and restarted. Saturday we saw her once again take 2nd in both rounds 1 & 2 followed by one of the wildest Finals we have seen this year so far with her battling it out against not only Malene Cottew and Tausha Lange but also the large number of lapped riders, every corner holding the potential to end your race with a pile-up and passing as many riders in the straight away whoops meaning everything to hold onto that podium position. Taven ended up taking 3rd stretching out the overall points gap between her and Inanna Hauger.

Oskar Englund #339 - Pro Lite

After an impressive showing of speed and abilities in Shakopee at rounds 3 and 4 Oskar came into Deadwood with a newly found confidence. While he was logging great times in practice and looked comfortable on the track he struggled in the race rounds finding himself off the side of the track, tangled up in other riders, and pinched. However, the truth about what makes a great racer is not how they handle the wins but their ability to use the difficult races to learn, grow and use them as fuel for the future. After seeing his abilities in Shakopee we stand behind Oskar and are confident in his abilities in the Pro Lite class and are excited to see how he performs in New York at rounds 7 & 8.

Nemo Fahlander #169 - Sport

Our young Swede Nemo came to the table in Deadwood to prove why he came so far to race in the US. On Friday he took 4th in round 1 and 6th in round 2 followed by barely squeezing into the Final taking 5th in the LCQ. The Final is when we saw what Nemo is really capable though, starting from the back row he rode hard and raced smart working his way up throughout the race to take 4th, only moments away from finishing on the Podium. Saturday he struggled in the first two rounds taking 8th and 9th finding himself back in the LCQ he took 5th and again was able to fight his way from the back row up into 7th place despite Saturday having one of the most chaotic and crashed-filled races of the season so far! Nemo is trending faster and getting more comfortable so we believe he will be on the podium very soon!
