Highs and Lows at ERX - Snocross Rounds 7 & 8

Milaca, MN (February 20th, 2023) - If you have been around racing for any time at all whether as a fan, racer, crew member, or anything else you know that racing is a series of highs and lows and that is exactly what we felt this weekend at the Amsoil Championship Snocross Series. We were supposed to have a weekend of racing in New York but unfortunately, the weather has other plans (Low). So with only a week until race day ISOC was able to scramble to put together a backup plan and find the race a new home, right in our backyard at our practice track at ERX Motorpark in Elk River, MN (High). During the first day of racing our Sport rider, Nemo Fahlander broke his wrist in two places which is putting him out of commission for the season (Low). Racing on Saturday Taven was able to take her 2nd win of the season and close the points gap between her and the overall championship (High). Our Pro Lite Rider Oskar Englund struggled with one issue after another (Low). We were joined by one of our old riders Mike Goerge who came out of retirement for the weekend to race with us (High). Every weekend is Highs and Lows with racing, you just have to learn how to enjoy that ride and the time spent at the track.

Taven Woodie #873 - The home track advantage really showed this weekend with Taven racking up some serious points towards the overall points championship. On Friday she took 2nd in round 1, followed by winning round 2 and then giving Malene a run for her money and pulling into 2nd in the final! But what we know about Taven is that she isn’t one to settle for 2nd, on Saturday she showed up with guns blazing, leading round 1 until she came off her sled and had to chase it into the pits, she got back on, and pushed all the way back to 4th, then in round 2 she took 2nd. What it really came down to is seeing Mike George get on the podium and not wanting to lose a bet, fired up she hit the track for the Saturday night final, she pushed hard throughout the entire race held on to that lead position, and was able to lock down her second win of the season!

Mike George #307 - One of the original Woodies Racing riders Mike Goerge has known the Woodies family for many many years acting like an older brother to Kaden and Taven we were thrilled to have him come out of retirement to race with us in the Pro Am 30 Plus class. After 4 years of being off the sled, he came ready to show off his newfound “dad strength”. With limited seat time, he took rounds 1 and 2 learning the sled and getting the setup dialed in for him, despite that he was able to take 3rd in round 1 and 4th in round 2. The final rolled around and the pressure was on, he pushed hard and proved that a Pro might retire but their abilities don’t just go away, he was able to get up on the podium in 3rd!

Oskar Englund #339 - Oskar had a difficult bad-luck weekend in the Pro Lite field at ERX, he was involved in multi crashes, pile-ups and had several other issues. On Friday he took back-to-back 6th place finishes in his rounds followed by 8th in the LCQ. On Saturday the challenges continued taking 6th in round 1, 5th in round 2, and 7th in the LCQ.With two weeks off we hope he will take the time to log some extra seat time and prep for Sioux Falls!

Nemo Fahlander #169 - Our young and ambitious Sport rider put in a hell of a day of racing Friday taking 5th in round 1, 6th in round two, and just making it into the back row of the final with a 5th in the LCQ. In the final he worked his way up, riding strong but also analytically picking his way through the field from the back row all the way into 7th. Unfortunately, he pulled for the triple and cased it hyper extending his wrist and breaking multiple bones. He planned to race on it Saturday (not realizing it was broken) before he took a trip to FXR Mobile medical who were able to take X-rays, they said it would be at minimum an 8-week recovery or the break would get worse and require surgery. Unfortunately, this means a rather abrupt and heartbreaking end to Nemo’s season. He has been a great addition to the team and we are so proud of just how much he grew in only a few months, not only as a racer but also as a person. We wish him the best with his recovery and are excited to see what the future holds for him!
